Eighties Fashion Back In Style

Looking back at Eighties fashion, I ask myself, "What did people in the Eighties actually wear?" The answer to that is, "Anything!" And that is what, I think, is so great and appealing about this trend. The modern day young person's mindset is all about personality and individuality.
I am sure we can all agree that the Eighties fashion has been back in style for a good while. It is more evident now with the new spring wear. I think the reason for this (in the case of leggings for example) is because we have more options to wear the same thing, in a different way, the second time. And no one will notice, or at least that's what we hope!
In the Eighties, young girls wore leggings to be provocative and sexy, and the way they were worn with high heels, big hair, leather jackets-they came off as, well, trashy. But now we wear leggings with a new philosophy.
Young girls are wearing leggings with tunics (loose, gown like garments), dresses, and skirts. So if your skirt is too short, wear leggings and no one can comment. If you are too cold in your air-conditioned classroom or office, wear leggings. You can try all kinds of shapes and colors for your leggings to spice it up a bit, such as stripes to make your legs look longer. You can trim them up to make them shorter or pull them down to wear full length. You are even allowed to a regular shirt and leggings alone. Just make sure to dress it up with a "fly" belt.
As for the footwear, guys and girls are wearing high-top sneakers, big thick, scrunchy socks worn over tight pants, and (my favorites) China flats. I personally like to feel comfortable with whatever I'm wearing, especially on my feet. They're practical, and you can use them with just about anything you're wearing.
Accessories are a big deal. Color is the biggest accessory you can have. The more, the better! You can mismatch, overly match or not match at all. It is up to you.
So sport your multicolor headbands, bandage minis and fluorescent elastic dresses. Oh, and don't forget to jolt out that "blingage," and sharply cut suits for any gender this spring.
