Pace students get together to create music and impact the students, check it out.

Not too long ago I had the privilege of writing an article on D.I.V, a student here at Pace, on how he was dropping out an album to show the world his creations. Last semester I also got a chance to interview and write about Pace University's hidden rock star, Craig Gallo. This time around it's a compilation of Pace University's finest artists together in one album as WPAW presents, The Sound of an Impact.

I know many of the students here at Pace don't listen to the radio station, and some of you reading this didn't even know there was a Pace University radio station. To both your surprise and mine, the radio station has done a lot for itself in the past couple of years. The Sound of an Impact actually isn't Pace's first student album to be released. The album is actually a follow up to the first compilation album done in 2005-2006 called "We, the Students...Vol. 1", which was a production sponsored by the Black Student Union.

"'The Sound of An Impact" is a compilation album of Pace University's finest musical talents. It includes such genres as hip-hop, R&B, alternative, and Rock. It is an effort to increase awareness of WPAW (Pace Audio World), the Pace University radio station which can be heard on the internet at www.WPAW.ORG. The title represents our mission to make a positive impact in our surroundings through music that has a message; therefore our music is what making an impact sounds like, get it?" said Kevin Saunders, Executive Producer of the album and a WPAW member.

Featured artists on the album Alanna, Archimage, Big Sim, Blacc Handlez, D.I.V, Hyfa, kAySAuN, Ricochet, Takenya, The Dan, and Threshold.

"As Executive Producer of the album, I couldn't have done this without the dedicated members of WPAW and my Executive Team: Tim Rago (D.I.V.), Veeraj Keshwala, Ariel Caro, and Amanda Gentile. We had many of the songs recorded in a professional studio in New York City, and all of the songs on the album are original material. The album is actually an enhanced album, when it is played on a computer, an interactive interface appears that shows each artist's individual biography, contact info, and YouTube.com links that share our music online," Saunders stated. Type in the word "wpawradio" to hear the whole album on YouTube.com.

"With such a great sounding, professional looking album, we thought it would be a great idea to have a Concert/Album Release Party," Saunders said. The Concert/Album Release Party will take place on Friday, April 18th at 8pm in the Kessel Student Center. In order to get as many people as possible to this event, WPAW reached out to as many student organizations as possible to ask for help. Their co-sponsors include: Alpha Phi Alpha, Phi Sigma Sigma, Kappa Iota NU, Black Student Union, RHA, Heat, and Valley Hall Council. With the help of some of their co-sponsors the word has gone out to Pace NYC, Manhattanville College and SUNY Purchase, so we can hope that this event will be the biggest so far at Pace.

The Sound of an Impact has also created a Facebook group. Look up "Sound of an Impact." Students who had joined the group were lucky enough to receive a free album and t-shirt last Wednesday during common hour. For the people that missed out, you still have a chance to get a free t-shirt and album at the concert.

There will be free giveaways (food, cash, t-shirts, albums) before the concert starts from 8pm-9pm only. DJ Mel will be hosting along with kAySAuN and D.I.V. There will be an after party directly following the concert and everything will end at 2am. This is a good chance for all you Pace students who are running low on your meal plan. Free food, good music-why would you miss that?

Saunders' final words, "This project is very important to me. I am graduating this May with a master's degree in Accounting, so I consider this my farewell to Pace University. Thank you Pace students, thank you SDCA staff, thank you Paw Print for this story. I hope you all enjoy our hard work. This is kAySAuN aka De La Gente...signing off."

Go support your fellow Pace University students and attend the Concert/Album Release Party, April 18th held at Kessel Student Center. Stick around for the after party, mingle and let the students know what you think of their creations, their impact on you.
