President Friedman posted a notice on the portal last week announcing Geoff Brackett's new position as Pace's Provost and executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Brackett was elected by the Board of Trustees to the three year position, which will end on August 31, 2010.

Brackett was previously interim, or temporary, provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs. However, now that he has been elected, his position is permanent.

He has been at Pace for eighteen years, holding a variety of positions, beginning as an assistant English professor at the NYC campus, eventually serving as chairman for the English department in 2005. In 2006, Brackett became Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.

"I have valued Geoff's leadership and vision, as well as his flexibility and good judgment as we developed and began implementing the Three Year Plan," said Friedman in his portal announcement. "Geoff is deeply committed to the future of Pace University and to continuing to build its academic standing and reputation. I am very pleased to be working with him at this exciting time in Pace's history."
