Be Kind Rewind is a heartfelt comedy that stars comedic actor Jack Black. The movies premise may seem a little bizarre, but the meaning behind it couldn't be more genuine.

The movie starts out with Mr. Fletcher (Danny Glover) leaving his failing video store, Be Kind Rewind, in the unsure hands off his employee Michael (Mos Def), putting him in charge.

While away, all the tapes in Mr. Fletcher's video store are erased due to Michaels' friend Jerry (Jack Black) and his magnetized brain. With all the tapes destroyed, Michael and Jerry attempt to recreate the lost movies, including Ghost Busters and Robocop, and sell them to the enthused customers in order to raise money to save the video store.

At first, the two friends are able to keep pace with the demand for the movies but eventually they come to the conclusion that they can't make enough money with the amount of movies they can produce, so they decide to include all the people who requested the videos. That is when the magic begins, as the people in the town of Passaic, New Jersey realize the creativity and magic of movie making.

After several weeks of successful movie making, Mike and Jerry run into a copyright law and are forced to destroy all their videos. With the town mourning over the loss of their creations, they decide to create their own movie about the town's idol, Fats Waller.

With the movie finished and the impending doom of the towns' beloved video store, the community gathers around the window of Be Kind Rewind to see the final piece of the work and see themselves one last time on the big screen.

This film will have you leaving the theater with a smile on your face and a warm feeling throughout your entire body. Be Kind Rewind won't make you fall out of your seat with hilarity, but it will make you feel good, and there are even several of the homemade movies that are pretty hilarious.

The movie tries to express the importance of creativity and togetherness, and by all means the director (Michael Gondry) does a fantastic job of it.

As good as this movie is, it isn't all perfect. There is a little confusion about a romance between two of the characters, and the scene which reveals it is entirely useless.

The cast of Be Kind Rewind worked wonderfully together. The chemistry between Jack Black and Mos Def is fantastic and it shows on the screen. Both of these actors give strong performances and help make the movie feel more sincere and childlike.

Be Kind Rewind is a movie that everyone can enjoy and it reminds us all of why we go to see movies in the first place, to see a little bit of ourselves on the big (or small) screen. So if you have a free weekend, a canceled class, or if you just want to go see a good movie, then I suggest you go see Be Kind Rewind.
