Pace's own rapper, Tim Rago, also known as D.I.V, is finally hitting it big. With a large audience at Pace University, there's no question about D.I.V. making it in the music industry.

On Feb. 26, D.I.V.'s anticipated rap album dropped. This album introduces us to 25 songs and features two other Pace students, Nicole Davis and Nycolette Evans.

Performing at Pace only seemed like practice for what was to come for Rago. Pace students were blessed to hear such lyrics that would soon to be in a real album.

Introducing himself as "the uncovered truth," D.I.V. gives us a look into his life from song to song, lyric to lyric, and makes us want to listen. "The uncovered truth… d, div…Get ready for what you don't know and I'm bout to expose. The uncovered truth… all, all original beats…eighty, eight minutes of piff to put up in rotation." The first song, 'The Best Kept Secret', points out that he is indeed the best kept secret, and that no matter what, you won't want to stop listening to him. You'll keep rotating the album listening to it over and over again.

Unlike many albums out at the moment, D.I.V. has actually written songs about things that are pretty interesting. Not only is he telling us the tale of his life, but he goes from that to sexual songs such as 'Candy Land' and 'Light Switch' in which audiences, such as college students, can enjoy.

These songs are the kind you would hear on the radio, there's no doubt about it. I am not much of a rap fan, and I doubted how much I would like this album, if at all. But I was proven wrong. The songs are catchy, and you can just leave it on and listen to it without disliking a single track completely. Being a picky listener, I was impressed with the fact that I didn't feel the need to change the song. I wanted to hear D.I.V.'s lyrics and see how he made everything rhyme and go so well together.

By far, the best low key song is 'Crossroads.' This song features Nicole Davis as she sings, "I'm tired of running from the trouble and the pain, all the stress is weighing heavy on my brain, oh I'm looking for a change, 'cuz I'm living in a crossroad, crossroad." D.I.V. tells the tale of choosing from two paths in life. Just like many of us, we go through these trial and error periods in our lives, and we often question which path to take, D.I.V. tells us his tale.

The best beat song is definitely, 'The Player's Dictionary', in which you cannot help but bop your head to it. The lyrics go so well with the title of the song. Never once within this track does Rago mention the name of it, and the lyrics explain the title so well that it doesn't even matter. It bothers me when the name of the song is mentioned within it so many times, but D.I.V. steers clear of that, which is what makes his songs that much better.

My personal favorite is 'Close Your Eyes', which I feel people can really enjoy. It's slow and calming, but the message is so powerful. "Fade off, but don't go to sleep, hustlers keep one eye open in the belly of the beast, with the drama going crazy 'cuz we heavy in the streets, can't have peace of mind if you don't have no peace." This is the kind of music that should be on the radio, but instead we are left hearing songs that lack a deeper message and meaning.

'The Uncovered Truth' is definitely one of those albums people need to take their time to listen to. It's not the best thing I have ever heard, but unlike most things on the radio today, it's not un-original. It's not about the messages he's trying to deliver, but how well D.I.V. gives us the message. You don't even realize the power the song has until you actually listen and read the lyrics. They are so catchy and great to listen to that it makes you want to read the lyrics while you listen.

Pace students, you need to go out and support your fellow classmate and go buy his album. If not buy it, give it a try on D.I.V.'s site, www.divmusic.net. There are previews of songs and a link with all the lyrics.

D.I.V. is the uncovered truth, the drug, the next best thing. Are you going to find out why?
