Feb. 16, Pleasantville- As part of Pace's Think Pink Day, an effort to help out with Breast Cancer Awareness, some of the men's basketball team displayed a softer side by wearing headbands and wristbands during game time today.

Unfortunately for Saint Michael's, that soft side wasn't shown as the Setters powered their way to an 83-69 victory over the Purple Knights.

The dominating victory included a game high 28 point performance from Pace's senior guard Ryan Williams. Williams also totaled seven rebounds and passed out five assists.

Senior forward Desmond Quincy-Jones scored ten points and was one rebound shy of a double-double by taking down a game high of nine boards.

Sophomore guard Laurence McGhee led the Setters in assists by getting six, along with scoring nine points.

On the Saint Michael's side of the ball, senior guard James Sorrentine scored 20 points with 18 of the points coming from three point shots.

Senior Brian Monahan and junior Mike Iola tied for the team lead in rebounds with eight apiece. Iola totaled 19 points, while Monahan scored 18 of his own.

Freshmen Chris Hurley and Nate Birr tied for the team lead in assists with six assists each.

The schools were pretty much even to begin the game. The first points came off of a three pointer from Pace senior guard Gibraltar White. Not too long after that, Sorrentine sunk a three point shot for the Purple Knights, tying the score at three.

Another three pointer for Saint Michael's, this time from Iola, gave the Purple Knights a 6-3 lead.

Still maintaining the lead a few minutes later, the Setters needed something to spark their offense. The spark came from a three pointer from Desmond Quincy-Jones that put the Setters up 8-6.

For the next ten minutes, the Setters left the Purple Knights in the dust by going on a 21-5 point run.

A three point shot form Monahan ended a five minute scoring drought near the eight minute mark, and Saint Michael's, now looking to comeback, started scoring more frequently.

The only problem for the Purple Knights was, anytime they scored, the Setters were right there to answer.

Before halftime, Saint Michael's was attempting to cut Pace's lead, but Pace was able to extend that lead going into halftime with a 45-24 score.

In the beginning of the second half, the Setters were looking to continue their dominance, and even get the crowd into the game.

A pass from junior forward Randy Wilson to Quincy-Jones, who took that pass for a dunk, completed an electrifying alley-oop play.

After that dunk, Saint Michael's went on an 11-0 run, shutting out Pace for the next four minutes.

The Purple Knights eventually worked themselves to within seven points of the Setters by making the score 55-48.

With Saint Michael's close, the Setters pushed them back once again by extending the score to 62-48.

With seven minutes remaining, the Purple Knights were starting to crawl back and were trying to make this match up a game again, eventually cutting their deficit to eight points.

Sorrentine made a three point shot with 1:45 remaining in the game, cutting the Setters lead to five with a 70-65 score. After two free throws by McGhee and a three point shot by Williams, the Setters were able to put the game in cruise control until they were able to let the clock run out.

With the victory, Pace improves their record to 11-13 overall and 10-9 in the Northeast-10 conference (NE-10). With the loss, Saint Michael's falls to 7-16 overall and 5-14 in the NE-10.

The next time Pace plays basketball in Pleasantville is at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 against Le Moyne.
