If you could transport anywhere you wanted anytime, where would you go?

Imagine being able to teleport anytime you want to anywhere you want. Pretty cool, right?

David Rice, played by Hayden Christensen, discovers this ability when he foolishly walks onto thin ice to retrieve a gift he got for his high school love, Millie (Rachel Bilson). As he breaks through the ice, he all of a sudden finds himself soaked and cold in the Ann Arbor Library. A Library? Are you kidding me? It would've been better if he ended up in his own room, somewhere where he is familiar with, but I have to admit that the trashing of the library upon his arrival did bring some comic relief to students if you ask me.

With his new found ability, he packs up and teleports his way out of living with his deadbeat father. David figures that since his mother was able to run away from his dad when he was a kid, it's time for him to do the same.

Before he goes on living the life he wants, he stops by Millie's house and he leaves her the gift he got her on her swing set. Now remember, Millie thinks he is dead and just found out that he is actually alive, but they don't meet again for another eight years.

After David leaves his town, he ends up at a motel like place and begins living there for a while.

He practices his teleporting ability at an open park and after awhile gets the hang of it. So what is a high school kid going to do about money? He uses his newfound ability to teleport through bank vaults and steals cash, all the while going unnoticed. Tell me you wouldn't do the same if you could get away with it.

At this point of the movie, we are introduced to the all mighty Rolan (Samuel L. Jackson). He helps with the investigation of the bank robbery, trying to figure out how one person could rob a vault without even opening the door. In his mind he already knows, but the chase for this bank robber continues. The only bad thing about this character is his resemblance to R&B singer Sisqo.

Jumping ahead to eight years later, we find David living the good life, owning everything he wants and traveling to every place he can dream of, all while living in a huge apartment atop a New York building.

He decides to return to his hometown of Ann Arbor to go visit his lost love. He finds out that she is still in town, and he goes to see her at this the bar she works at. Only Millie knows that he survived the ice incident that day.

They talk, and he asks her to go to Rome with him. Next thing you know, they're in Rome (and they actually flew in a real plane.) Even with all the money that David has, how does Millie all of a sudden decide to head over to Rome after just one day? Usually takes awhile to plan things out, but maybe that's just me.

They're in Rome having the time of their lives but when they reach the Coliseum, where David meets another Jumper names Griffin (Jamie Bell). Griffin tries to explain to David what being a "Jumper" is all about.

Now comes in the Paladens, a group of people whose sole purpose is to kill off Jumpers. This isn't a first encounter for David or Griffin, and it is definitely not the last. This is where the action unfolds for the rest of the movie.

If this is the movie you were hoping would re-define Sci-Fi movies, you might be a little disappointed. But with the action and the fact that it's based on a novel make it a movie worth looking into.

This movie could've been better and should have been more focused on Griffin because Jamie Bell was the steal of this movie. The effects were really good as well, can't complain there.

Some might hope for a sequel but who knows. It's not a giant leap for the movie industry, but it's a good jump start for the year.
