Stephanie Klingele is battling for one of her seven rebounds. She also had six assists and 21 points on a record breaking day.

Feb. 2, Pleasantville- Senior guard Stephanie Klingele broke Pace's all time record for most three point shots in a career, during Pace's dominating 82-52 victory over the Hawks of Saint Anselm.

Klingele only needed one three pointer to pass Pace alumna Andrea Padelsky, but she sank in three of them.

When being asked about on her newly broken record, Klingele replied, "It feels very good breaking the record, and getting a win in the process makes it even better."

Aside from breaking the record, Klingele also had a great performance for the Setters by scoring a game high 21 points, and acquiring game highs in rebounds with seven and assists with six.

Freshman forward Kristen Connolly tied Klingele's game high of seven rebounds. She also totaled eleven points in the win.

On the Hawks side of the court, sophomore forward Grace Harrington led the team scoring 10 points. Junior guard Justine Lyons passed out six assists, tying the game high, and junior guard Meredith Amyot took down a team high of six rebounds.

The excitement started off early in this conference match up as the first shot taken by the Setters was the record breaking three point shot from Klingele, giving Pace a 3-0 lead to begin the game, getting the crowd going and the team energized.

The Setters kept Saint Anselm shut out for the first game's opening five minutes. In this time, Pace built up an eleven point lead.

Saint Anselm put them selves on the scoreboard after a lay up from senior forward Cassaundra Thorpe, and the Hawks were looking to make up for their already hefty deficit.

Sadly for the Hawks, Pace kept adding on points to the scoreboard. Nearing the midway point in the opening half, the Setters made the score 21-6 after a three point shot by sophomore forward Taylor Losey.

After the shot by Losey, the Setters let their lead slip a little by allowing the Hawks to go on a 9-2 point run bringing the score to 23-15.

With the lead being trimmed down, the Setters fought right back, going on a 11-0 point run giving them a secure 19 point lead.

For the remainder of the first half, the Hawks cut down their deficit once again by nailing a few jumpers and free throws.

With only seven seconds remaining in the first half, Klingele battled for a lay up which she made in, bringing the teams to the halftime score of 36-23.

Shooting was the real story in the first half. Pace completed 44 percent of their shots, while Saint Anselm had an abysmal shooting percentage of 24 percent.

Klingele led the Setters in first half scoring with 16 points, while sophomore guard Erin Higgins put six points on the scoreboard for the Hawks, leading the team.

The Setters came out in the second half with the same energy and fire that they had in the first.

Not only did the Setters score but for the first three minutes of the final half, Pace shut out Saint Anselm in that time. Without the Hawks scoring, the Setters were able to significantly increase their lead to 21 points.

After the Hawks ended the scoring drought with a free throw made by Amyot, Saint Anselm was still trying to crawl back. Eventually, the Hawks shortened their deficit to 19 points, but after that it was all Pace.

Two three pointers, one by Connolly, the other by Losey, put the Setters up by 25 points and they were in control.

The Setters battled to a 33 point lead with a little over five minutes left in the game, and the Setters' bench was full of life. They cheered after every shot was made for Pace and actually got the crowd going when freshman forward Brittany Huggins sank a three pointer with a little over a minute left.

This was the final three pointer for the Setters in the game as they totaled an amazing 13-three point shots.

The 30 point victory was capped of when sophomore Jackie Gogel forced in a lay up as the game clock expired.

With the win, the Setters improve their overall record to 6-14 and 5-10 in the Northeast-10 conference (NE-10).

The Loss for the Hawks makes them fall to 6-16 overall and 3-14 in the NE-10.

The next time Pace's women's basketball team will be playing in Pleasantville is on Feb. 16 at 1:30 p.m. when they take on conference rival Saint Michaels
