Nov. 10, Pleasantville-The Setters put an end to the 2007 football season in a dogfight against the Greyhounds of Assumption. Pace provided a great effort on both sides of the ball in this match up, but that alone was not enough as the Setters lost to the Greyhounds 10-7.

Prior to the game Pace's senior football players were honored as a part of senior day. One senior ended up standing out more than all the others: linebacker Joe Streany.

Against Assumption, Streany ended his season long quest to break Pace's single season record for most tackles with his 12 tackle performance, making the new record 148.

The record was previously held by Brian Pirone who set the original record of 142 back in 1994.

Streany had this to say about writing himself in Pace's record books, "It felt good, it felt really good. I tried not smile during the game because I had to stay focused but it was hard not to. I would have traded it all for the win."

Streany also recovered a fumble on the afternoon, and was not the only senior to have a stellar performance. Senior Ernst Turnier helped Streany out on defense, recording ten tackles and senior Lee Robinson forced two fumbles.

On the offensive side of the ball for the Setters seniors were shining as well. Senior quarterback Adam Headley led the attack through the air completing ten passes on 25 attempts for 121 yards and a touchdown. Senior running back Ruben Pagan lead the ground attack by rushing for 36 yards on 17 carries and catching two passes for 33 yards.

Sophomore tight end Andrew Kulak led Pace in receiving by catching three balls for 43 yards.

After forcing a Greyhounds fumble on their first possession, the Setters were the first to strike. Headley launched a 13 yard pass to freshman wide receiver Marcus Hass who caught it for a touchdown giving Pace an early 7-0 lead.

This was the first touchdown that Pace scored since Oct. 6 when the Setters played Bentley.

Following the Setters touchdown, the Greyhounds struck right back. Freshman running back Herbert Woodard who had 152 yards rushing on the day, punched in a four yard touchdown run just as the first quarter came to an end tying it all up at seven.

In the second quarter the defense reigned supreme. Robinson forced Assumption's sophomore running back Jay Youngblood to fumble the ball which was recovered by Streany.

Assumption would not be luckier on their next drive as junior defensive back John Induisi intercepted the Greyhound's junior quarterback Taylor Humphrey.

The defense was the main talk of the game until early into the fourth quarter. Assumption's senior kicker Jon Eisele made an ugly 22 yard field goal that bounced off the left and bottom parts of the goal post.

The Setters tried as hard as they could but they could just not put up anymore points losing this fight between the dogs 10-7.

Unfortunately for Setters' seniors, this was their last game at Pace.

Senior co-captain Richard Pinck was a little emotional after the game saying, "I'm sad it's all over. It's been a good four years. I love this team, these are good men. I'm going to miss them."

Streany also expressed his feeling on his last game expressing, "The reality of it all set in looking at the clock. It's hard to see myself not wearing this uniform our playing on this field again. I've dedicated the past 21 years to this and it all ends here."

The Setters will end the 2007 season with a record of 1-10 overall and 1-8 in the Northeast 10 conference. Congratulations goes out to all the seniors for their accomplishments at Pace.
