Is Lackmann for the Students?

It appears that in the past two weeks, Lackmann Culinary Service has been providing the same meals continuously. For example, the week of October 29, 2007, pasta was served three times on the Street Fare. The week following, pasta was served twice. In addition to this, pizza, fried foods, and sandwiches are served daily. Since Lackmann's job is to serve the students, it is important to hear what the students have to say.
The overall consensus from students questioned was that more variety is needed. Students are tired of eating pasta, salmon, or tacos on a weekly basis. One student recalls last year when Lackmann only had pasta at the Al Forno section. This student believes that Lackmann has pasta on the street fare now because it needs to be weighed, costing over $5.95 per meal. In general, students would like to see pasta go back on the Al Forno and more variety of meals placed in the Street Fare.
Students also enjoyed the sliced pizzas that came with a variety of toppings ranging from pepperoni, sausage, and chicken. Not all students can finish a whole pie of the pizza that is now being served and would like to pay less by having the choice of getting one slice. In addition, there are no more calzones.
Students want to see steak, mashed potatoes with roasted turkey and broccoli, pork chops and stir fry, stew, and more. One thing in particular that is missed is the soup and teriyaki noodles that are made in front of you. All these foods were once provided before, so it should be possible to have it again.
On a positive note, some students have stated that they are "satisfied with the sides" such as corn, potatoes, asparagus, and string beans that are served. Some students do enjoy the food ideas, but would like the food to be fresher.
Hopefully Lackmann will respond to this article by hearing what students have to say and making some food changes. Because unfortunately, students can't just "go home," as stated by one manager on November 5, so something needs to change.
