Oct. 2, Pleasantville- After dominating the first game 30-17, the Setters never looked back and proceeded to win the next two games 30-15 and 30-17. Pace shutout the Owls of Southern Connecticut State this past Tues. 3-0.
The Setters struck first and struck quickly in the first game as they jumped to an early 5-1 lead. The margin kept widening in favor of the Setters, as ferocious kills and a stonewall block eventually brought the score to 20-10, a ten point margin. Pace would bring that lead to 13 points when they won game one 30-17.
In game two, the Setters once again weren't holding anything back. After starting the game at odds with the Owls, it didn't take long for Pace to gain full control with a 15-5 lead. The Setters' lead would never subside as they ended up taking game two 30-15.
Now with the third game underway, the electrified Setters were ready to put the Owls away and make it an early night. Pace was relentless, giving them selves a 10-2 lead to begin game three.
The points did go back and forth for a little bit, but after a few lethal spikes it looked like Pace was ready to win this match.
With the score being 29-17 the Setters officially put the shutout away as the serve from the Owls couldn't travel over the net giving Pace the 30-17 game three win and the 3-0 win for the match.
After the big win, senior Rebecca DePaoli said, "We needed this win to prove to ourselves and our opponents that we can win big, since we have let a few games slip." DePaoli had eight kills in the match.

All these good performances were overshadowed by the phenomenal performance by senior Ashley D'Agostini who had a triple-double. D'Agostini in the match up had rung up 10 kills, 19 digs, and 30 assists.
Along with the amazing triple-double performance, there was more to come for D'Agostini. It was acknowledged during the match, that on Fri. Sept. 28 at Franklin Pierce, D'Agostini became the third player in Pace history to record 2,000 career assists. When asked how she felt about this milestone, D'Agostini stated, "I'm very excited about it. I was not expecting it. I love this team and I'm glad I accomplished something while I was here."
