On Tues. Apr. 24, Pace University made a major announcement at their Annual Leaders in Management dinner. They would be launching a capital campaign for Pace University for $100 million.

The announcement marked the "public phase" of the campaign. In the "silent phase" that preceded it, the university had already raised $65 million in gifts and pledges.

The campaign has been titled "It's Time" and was the theme of the evening's dinner and award events.

The silent phase has been underway for almost four years now as it began in 2003. This year marks the halfway point in the seven year campaign which will come to a close in 2010. By this time, the university plans to have added $45 million to the fundraising effort.

With one week remaining in the collection deadline for this year, the campaign had raised "over $511,000 in cash and pledges." Though this number was moderately less than last year's goal, it was noted that it exceeded goals of years previous to that. Also, tickets to the fundraiser dinner cost $500 a piece.

The Leaders in Management Dinner is an annual event at which Pace recognizes their outstanding leaders with their Leaders in Management Award.

This year's recipient was Michael O'Reilly of the Board of Trustees. As Chief Financial Officer of The Chubb Corporation, O'Reilly has worked at Pace acquiring a list of achievements that make him well-deserving of the award.

The Chubb Corporation donated $50,000 to Pace earning it a "Leader" level as a donor. Only one other donor in the program matched the donation and he or she has chosen to do so anonymously.

The award was presented by Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Aneillo Bianco, and President Caputo after dinner.

O'Reilly accepted the award but emphasized to all present the need for everyone to work hard for the betterment of Pace.

Other speakers at the event included student Dov Magit, winner of the 2007 Trustees Award and Ivan Seidenberg, member of the Board of Trustees who will be chairing the "It's Time" campaign.
