Summer 2007 is proving that it is going to be a big season for the music industry with some of the biggest names set to hit the road on tour.

One of the most successful bands in the history of rock music, Def Leppard, has announced that they are going on a 50 city tour throughout the United States and Canada beginning June 27 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The tour comes as a follow-up to their hugely successful year in 2006. Their last tour had to be extended three times due to an overwhelming demand for tickets and the band's 10th album Rock of Ages: the Definitive Collection went gold.

Styx and Foreigner are scheduled to appear with the band on certain dates that have not yet been announced. Def Leppard will be appearing in New York on Aug. 14 at Nikon Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh and in New Jersey's PNC Bank Arts Center on Aug. 15.

Another legendary band, The Police, are reuniting for a 30th anniversary tour that could be the last one for the entire band together. The tour is set to begin May 28 in Vancouver, BC in Canada and then make its way into the United States.

The band will be performing in the New York area on Aug. 1 and 3 at Madison Square Garden and Aug. 5 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

For the country music fans there will also be plenty to see this summer with Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill all set to be on tour.

Urban will be on the Love, Pain, and the Whole Crazy World tour beginning June 8 in Phoenix, Arizona. The show is scheduled to make stops in 33 cities, performing 36 concerts in the US and Canada. While Urban is not scheduled as of yet to be appearing in New York, he will be performing on Aug. 15 at the Continental Arena in NJ.

Kenny Chesney's Flip Flop Summer tour began on April 14 and will run straight through until September 8. Chesney will be joined by fellow country music stars, Brooks and Dunn, Sara Evans, Sugarland, and Pat Green. Chesney will perform at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 30 and the New York State Fair on the 31st in Syracuse.

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw will be continuing their Soul2Soul tour from 2006, beginning on June 6. The tour, presented by Jeep, will run for 34 dates. .Hill and McGraw will also be appearing at the Continental Arena on July 9 and as are many of the other artists, they are also set to tour many cities in the US and Canada.

Aside from the solo acts, summer would not be complete without concerts such as Ozzfest and Warped Tour, which bring together many different bands of similar genres and tour all at once.

Ozzfest will kick off on July 12 in Seattle, Washington and make stops on Aug. 16 and 22 at PNC Bank Arts Center and the Tweeter Center in New Jersey. This year's tour is especially exciting for Osbourne fans that will get the chance to attend the show for free. Osbourne's latest album, Black Rain has a code that consumers can enter onto his official website in order to receive two free tickets to a show in their area. The specially marked CDs will be in stores beginning May 22.

Warped Tour will be held from June 29 through Aug. 29 and will perform at Nassau Coliseum on Aug. 4. Some of the bands performing at various locations will be New Found Glory, Coheed and Cambria, Flogging Molly, Hawthorne Heights, Paramore, The Starting Line and many more.

This year, one of the biggest shows will be LiveEarth, a concert that will take place on July 7 to raise awareness for global warming. The show will be performed in locations on each of the seven continents of the world with various performers at each location. Official announcements of performers set to take the stage in the US and the UK, while only a few have been named for other locations. Performers at Giants Stadium will include Bon Jovi, Akon, John Mayer, Kelly Clarkson, Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews Band, Ludacris and many more.

Madonna, Snow Patrol, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Foo Fighters will be performing at Wembley Stadium in the UK and Silverchair and Jack Johnson have signed on for Australia's Aussie Stadium.

Live Earth will be broadcast on television and radio stations throughout the US, to be announced at a later date.

The days are starting to get longer, indicating that summer is on its way. Purchase tickets now and chill out with your favorite performers later.
