Dear Editor,
I would like you to include this letter in the next edition of The Paw Print, since it is widely read by the campus community. After reading this letter, I am sure that many students will agree with its contents, and will feel as I do. I am writing about some personal experiences with this University that I have had to go through.
I am not one to stir up controversy or anger in anyone, but I understand the ire of many in the Pace community who have been subjected to similar abuses that I have experienced. Up to this point, I honestly felt that their complaints and grievances, while perhaps just, were to a large part frivolous. I also felt that the severe actions many have taken to protest the administration and its actions were amplifications of what was necessary. I have never joined or attended protests or student-organized events held to protest this institution. For harboring those feelings, and not playing a role in their events, I am forever regretful. I now understand that their feelings were true and just, and based on experiences that were similar to mine.
Over the last several months, I have found myself suffering from the sclerotic actions of an administration and faculty that is absolutely ill-equipped to handle the administration of this University. This does not mean to say that all faculty and staff are; I have come across many who have been able to help me and went out of their way to assist me in my goals. However, most of those in the administration that I have encountered have been far less than helpful, and have sometimes stood in my way and blocked my progress as a student.
College is hard enough for students, with the endless studying and paper-writing that everyone encounters daily. I always held Pace University in high regard for its success, yet I have been disillusioned from that ideal since I began here. So often, students are faced with challenges in and out of the classroom. One challenge builds on another, and the institution of a university has always been a system of support for students. Large universities all over this country have an administration and a faculty that go out of their way to make the college experience easier for students. From my personal experience, I can see that Pace University is not one of those institutions.
